Offline maps
The road head is usually the last place with signal. Everything a trek needs is packed before you leave it.
What a download contains
The map around the route from zoom 8 to 14 with a margin either side, the line to follow, every checkpoint, the itinerary, the safety notes and the gear list.
What it costs
It depends on the ground the trek crosses. The app quotes the size before you download and shows the exact figure after.
Staying current
Downloaded maps are listed in the app under Offline packs, where you can update or remove each one. Download on Wi-Fi the night before if you can.
GPS does not need a signalYour position keeps moving on a downloaded map with no network at all. Open the map once in airplane mode before you go to check the download.
