This page explains how to delete your Kashmir Explorer account and the data associated with it, for both the Kashmir Explorer mobile app and this website.
Delete your account in the app
Deleting takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
- Open the Kashmir Explorer app and make sure you are signed in.
- Go to the Profile tab and tap the Settings gear at the top right. (If the Profile tab already shows a list of settings, you are there.)
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete my account. Your account is erased and you are signed out.
Delete your account on this website
You can also delete your account here. Sign in on this website with an email code or with Google, using the email address or Google account you use in the app, and come back to this page (or choose Delete account on your profile). You will see what is deleted, type DELETE to confirm, and your account is erased and this browser signed out. Signing out on its own only clears this browser; the account stays.
If you can’t open the app or sign in
If you no longer have the app installed, or you have lost access to the Google or Apple account (or the email address) you signed in with, email us at kashmirexplorerhq@gmail.com from the address associated with your account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm once it is done, normally within 30 days of receiving the request.
What is deleted
Deleting your account permanently erases:
- your account and profile (name, email address, photo and sign-in identifiers);
- your saved destinations and treks;
- your recorded walks and completed treks, with their tracks and statistics;
- the reviews, ratings and photos you have submitted;
- your Community activity: the walks you posted, and your photos, comments, likes, reports and follows.
What is kept, and for how long
Security audit logs are retained where the law requires it. These are unlinked from you at deletion, so they no longer identify you or your account.
We also keep a count of deleted accounts: one record per deletion holding only the date, whether you or an administrator deleted it, and the month the account was created, with nothing that says whose account it was.
Anything held only on your phone — saved items while signed out and downloaded offline map packs — never reaches our servers, so account deletion does not touch it. Uninstalling the app removes it, on iPhone and on Android; on Android you can also clear the app’s storage in Settings. On this website, clearing the site’s data in your browser removes what is kept there.
Browsing without an account
An account is optional. You can browse every destination and trek in the app by choosing Continue without logging in, and every page of this website without signing in at all. Signing in is only needed to save a place, write a review or record a walk.
