This trail follows the traditional Amarnath Yatra route from Chandanwari, climbing steadily alongside the Lidder valley to Sheeshnag Lake at around 3,590 metres, overlooked by the jagged Sheshnag peaks. It can be walked as a long single day out-and-back from Chandanwari or Pahalgam, or broken into two days with a camp near the lake. The path is well used during the pilgrimage season and clearly marked for most of its length.

Conditions on this route change week to week. If you walk it, a short report on pass snow and river levels genuinely helps the next group — reports are posted from the Kashmir Explorer app.
Everything above is the plan. Walking it is the app's half: the Kashmir Explorer app carries this route, its checkpoints and its safety notes down the trail with you — with no signal.
Prepare this walk on your phone before you leave signal. The trek, the route and the numbers are identical to this page — one catalogue, one Official Route.
